Discover the mission and vision of Calculamedica
Mission
Calculamedica exists to democratise access to validated, high-quality clinical tools, making them free, accessible and available in multiple languages for healthcare professionals worldwide. We believe that accurate knowledge and tools should be available to everyone, regardless of geographical location, language or financial capacity.
Foundation and History
The project was founded by Danton Jobim Pereira Dantas, a neurologist, with the aim of removing barriers to access clinical scores, medical calculators and clinical decision support tools. Calculamedica began as an independent effort and continues to evolve to meet the growing needs of healthcare professionals worldwide, with no commercial ties that could compromise the quality or objectivity of the tools.
Target Audience
Our target audience comprises healthcare professionals from all specialities:
- Doctors and Dentists, general practitioners and specialists across all disciplines;
- Nurses and other allied health professionals;
- Physiotherapists, Dietitians and Fitness professionals;
- Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Psychologists;
- Pharmacists, Clinical Scientists and Biophysicists;
- Technicians and support staff across all health specialities;
- Healthcare students;
- Anyone seeking to deepen their knowledge of evidence-based clinical tools.
Our Values
Calculamedica is built on five fundamental pillars:
Free Access
All tools in the initial phase of Calculamedica are and will remain free. In future, features or products with paid access models may be introduced — but the tools from this first expansion phase will maintain free access indefinitely, in keeping with our philosophy that clinical knowledge should be accessible to all healthcare professionals, regardless of financial capacity.
Multilingualism
We provide multilingual support to remove language barriers. Healthcare professionals should be able to access tools in their native language, ensuring accuracy in the interpretation of clinical concepts.
Evidence-Based
Each calculator is developed on the basis of validated medical literature, recognised clinical guidelines and methodologically rigorous studies. Regular updates ensure that the tools remain aligned with the current state of knowledge.
Transparency
We are transparent about the limitations of each tool, the populations for which they have been validated and the clinical conditions in which they should be applied. Transparency is the foundation of trust.
Openness to Improvement
We welcome feedback from healthcare professionals, researchers and users. Suggestions for new tools, corrections and improvements are welcome and contribute to the continued development of the platform.
Why We Created Calculamedica
We identified a lack of access to reliable clinical tools:
- Many platforms charge prohibitive fees to access scores and calculators;
- Professionals in developing countries face financial and linguistic barriers;
- The dispersion of tools across multiple websites makes rapid consultation in clinical practice difficult;
- There is growing demand for centralising validated tools in one reliable location.
Our Vision for the Future
We aspire for Calculamedica to become the global reference of choice for healthcare professionals seeking reliable, up-to-date and accessible clinical tools. We plan continued expansion in terms of the number of calculators, languages and features, always maintaining our commitment to quality, free access and accessibility.
Data Protection
Calculamedica complies with applicable data protection legislation for each user, according to the country in which they are located. The legal bases, data subject rights and competent supervisory authorities are described in consolidated form in our Privacy Policy. For applicable legal purposes, we inform:
